Rather than sending out raving emails to people who don't always want to get them, this is where Bernard will now vent his spleen...

been quite a while

Happy Autumn.

Today is the day that more people share a birthday than any other day that I can think of in my personal networks. And it can't all be due to Feb 29... So happy birthday you lot.

I've not posted anything for over a month; a few reasons....
  • So much going on in this world that drives me mad that I can't choose 1 thing to write about at a time
  • Mind not been concentrating too well on things recently
  • General health been a wee bit trying so taking a bit of a break

Was not going to use this blog as a personal (Dear Diary) platform, but for those of you who know me...

Have gotten over an oncology "scare"; for a while it was looking as if I may have had a relapse (after 10 years) of Burkitt's Lymphoma. Not the case. Yay! We like that.

Not sure what the cause of the clinical signs were, but a couple of reasonably benign / manageable things are being looked at.

Have also in the last 2 days just started back on anti-retroviral medications after a 4 year hiatus.

Pleased to be doing this, but...

Getting used to being "back on pills" is partly psychological; however, some of the drugs are psychotropic to one degree or another.

Whether i'm feeling weird due to the ritonovir or the atazanavir is really beside the point; the end of the day is that I am feeling really wonky at the moment. Should pass reasonably quickly; yeah, in the over all scheme of things "a month or so" is "reasonably quickly".

What I hope will NOT pass at all quickly is that I have come to accept into my life a stunningly lovely man who I am now happy to officially call my "Boyfriend". So as to protect the innocent, I will from hereon (whenever a mention is needed) refer to him by the inititals SFS.

On the advocacy side of my life, I am on sabbatical from my role at PLWHA, but still committed to the sector and those issues.

Items to come soon :
  • Why has the NSW Health Department decided to totally sidestep it's own very good privacy legislation by way of a ministerially advised "Executive Order"
  • Why I don't find the Howard Government's deniability to be "plausible" anymore (& why does the electorate seem to be so stupid over this?)
